For Prime minster Luksic new investments are a milestone in the development of the marina, and after completion of work worth 100 million euro gains are 200-300 new jobs.
Prime Minister Igor Luksic and Canadian businessman Peter Munk have set the cornerstone for building a five star hotel, yacht club and spa center at the Tivat marina Porto Montenegro.
It is planned to expand the capacity of the marina from 185 to 380 bearths , and the Adriatic Shipyard (Bijela) will build a center for repair and maintenance of yachts.
The value of all investments is planned at 100 million .
Luksic said that everything that is done in Tivat and recent construction of the golf course will make this city a spectaculare place, not only in Montenegro, but in this part of Europe.
According to him, very important are indirect effects - Employment of construcion workers , employment opportunities on yachts, increased demand for agricultural products.
Luxury five star hotel, which will build the Asian Regent Hotels and Resorts, will have 100 rooms, residences, a swimming pool in the courtyard, spa and fitness center, restaurant, banquet space.
Munk praised the government of Montenegro, the mayor and citizens of Tivat who, he said, always willing to help to attract foreign tourists to their city.
"Personal efforts of the mayor, the local community and the Government itself are the reason we are here, not in Albania, Greece or Croatia," said Munk.
Noting that in this time of global economic crisis doubles investment in Porto Montenegro and that this second phase will not be the last, a Canadian businessman pointed out that currently in the world are rare such a valuable investments .
Chairman of Regent Hotels & Resorts, Ralf Ohletz, presented the company that will build the hotel and that Regent hotels in the past year have bin chosen for the best luxuriance hotels in the world.
Mayor of Tivat Miodrag Kankaras said that with this investments, Tivat gets what he lacked a high-class-hotel .
He recalled that the local parliament adopted a decision to stimulate investors to build luxury hotels in the city and that the price of utility charges for such investments fell 80 percent.
