Vice President of the World Council for Tourism and Travel WTTC, Jean-Claude Baumgarten announced that Montenegro will in the next ten years, according to most indicators in the grow of tourism and related economic effects, will be a world leader and ahead of neighboring countries.
"Third Report on the prospects of tourism in Montenegro, which we have just completed, shows that the situation in your country, regardless of the economic crises , on this issue is much better than several years ago when we did the last report.
Direct economic contribution of tourism and travel sector in Montenegro in the next 10 years will grow at a rate of 10.9 percent per year .
This country has a huge increase in participation of the tourism and travel in the overall economy, which is very important fact that the major tour operators who need to draw attention to this market, as well as for investors who need to see new-business opportunities. Said Baumgarten.
By 2021. contribution of tourism to almost 2 billion
Vice-President of WTTC said that including the indirect economic effects, the contribution of tourism in Montenegro with the current 593, 8 million euros until 2021 to reach an amount of 1.915 billion euros, or from the current 17.2 up to 36.3 per cent share in the total gross domestic product, a number of workers in the tourism of Montenegro from the current 12 000, for ten years will grow to a total of 62 000.
Montenegro should , as Baumgarten said , specifically address the improvement of infrastructure, in order to comply with the tourism growth.
Definitely need to provide direct flights. This is not an easy job, especially since airlines are now going through a difficult period .
This will help Montenegro to remain one of the fastest growing economies in the field of travel and tourism in the world, said Baumgarten.
According to the direct participation of the travel and tourism to GDP, Montenegro is the first on the list, which includes 181 countries, membership of WTTC.
"The expected growth rate of investment in tourism in Montenegro is 16.4 per cent per year which is the highest growth rate in the world." - Vice President of WTTC said stressing that the government must take a smart policy, "using many comparative advantages that you have when it comes to tourism, starting from the beautiful and varied countryside in a small area, rich culture and history, and excellent gastronomy. "
WTTC recommends that the State in the meantime make additional efforts to build infrastructure, encourage investment, facilitate administrativ procedures and further reduce barriers to business-as well as taking into account sustainable development.
